Today we started our ‘Notes of Love’ campaign

Today, we started our ‘Notes of Love’ campaign at the Women of the World Festival. In one day we gathered over 300 notes from members of the public, written to women who have experienced violence. We were overwhelmed by the response.

The ‘Notes of Love’ campaign gathers lots of supportive messages from members of the public, written to women who have experienced sexual violence. The messages are short – one sentence long – and will together form a display which will be placed at the front of The Haven centres across London. These are the centres women go to soon after being assaulted.

The idea is, that women will walk into the centres and see lots of supportive messages from the public. When a woman leaves the centre, she will be able to take one of the notes from the display, and keep it with her as support. This is to show women that they may feel alone and vulnerable after assault, but there are lots of people sending love their way.

We were overwhelmed by the response from passers by, who stopped to write incredibly moving messages on post-it notes. In one day, we’ve counted 318 notes. We’ll update our gallery with more pictures of the ‘notes of love’ in the next few days. There were so many wonderful messages to choose from, but here’s one from earlier today.
