We’re thrilled to announce that our new MBB clinic in Scotland will be opening in February 2018!
The very first MBB clinic outside London will be in Glasgow, run in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and West of Scotland Sexual Health MCN. Just like our London clinic, it’ll provide specialised health care for women who have experienced sexual violence, offering cervical screening, STI testing and contraceptive care.
We’re really excited to be working with some excellent, passionate clinicians, including Dr Pauline McGough and sexual health nurse Jane Phelps, who we couldn’t possibly have done this without.
We’d also like to thank Rape Crisis Scotland and Rape Crisis Glasgow, who are essential to providing support and care to the MBB volunteers helping to run the clinic. I am sure they will be a huge support in many ways, and we’re looking forward to working with such excellent charities.
We’ll also be starting a Café V in Scotland next year, which we’ll tell you more about soon.
Our Founder, Pavan Amara, said, “We realised from quite early on there was a need, because we received many emails from Scottish women who have experienced sexual violence, saying they wanted to use our services, but could not afford the travel to our London clinics. We are also very grateful that the Scottish Government’s Women and Girls Fund has provided money enabling us to start this in Scotland. It shows that progressive governments can improve women’s day-to-day lives. Another key factor was finding some excellent clinicians to work with, including Dr Pauline McGough and sexual health nurse Jane Phelps.”
We’ll let you know as soon as we’re ready to take bookings in Glasgow, so watch this space! Until then, you can read up about our MBB clinics.
