Bridget Minamore is a writer who has facilitated poetry workshops for people all over the UK. Heading up the creative side of My Body Back, Bridget will be running free poetry and creative writing workshops for survivors of sexual violence.
The workshops will aim to help women use creativity as a way to write down their stories, thoughts and feelings, as well as reclaim their physicality through their own words.
When and where
The first My Body Back poetry workshop will be held at 1pm on Saturday 27th June 2015 in an accessible venue in Covent Garden. In a relaxed setting that will strive to be an inclusive, safe space, a small group of women will be encouraged to write and share as much or as little as they want. All writing and literacy abilities are welcome, and all materials will be provided, although feel free to bring your own notebooks.
Spaces for the workshop are limited – on a first-come-first-served basis – and will only be open to women who have experienced sexual violence. In the interests of diversity, we may hold some of the places for women of colour, lesbian/bisexual/queer women, trans women, disabled women, sex workers, and any other women who may find it difficult to navigate traditional feminist/survivor spaces. If you are a part of any of these groups or have any specific requests, please feel free to put this in your email. We’ll also have a waiting list for future workshops.
If you’re interested in coming to this workshop or a future session, or if you’d just like some more information, email email@example.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
